Position

Pianist, the ideal applicant will be skilled on both the piano and organ.

Compensation

$120 for a single Sunday service; Wednesday evening services during Advent and Lent negotiable; Christmas Eve and special Lenten evening services (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday) $60 per additional service.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to provide piano accompaniment for hymns, liturgy, and occasional soloists; and a willingness to learn liturgical settings (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America [ELCA]). Audition required.

Job Description

The church pianist/organist is an integral part of the worship team. The selected candidate will provide piano and/or organ music for Redeemer’s weekly Sunday service (9:30 AM). This will include prelude selections, hymn accompaniment, liturgical accompaniment, and a recessional selection. Occasionally, the pianist will be asked to accompany soloists (choral or instrumental) during the service. In addition to regular Sunday services, there are Wednesday evening services during Advent and Lent, Christmas Eve services, and Holy Week services. Redeemer primarily uses the hymnal — Evangelical Lutheran Worship, 2006, Augsburg Fortress Publishers, for hymn and liturgical settings. Opportunities to conduct the church’s choir or lead a youth music program are also available to interested and qualified applicants. Applicants who can commit to two or three Sundays per month will also be considered.
