Fresh Start Boxes
What is a Fresh Start Box?
It is a box filled with a defined list of shelf-stable food and toiletries for new residents of the Fresh Start Sober Living house. It is intended to provide most of their food and personal care items for one week, and take one small burden off their shoulders as they start the program.
The pantry is maintained at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Brewer. Volunteers from area churches and the community donate food and toiletries (listed below) and once a month volunteers gather to pack 12-18 boxes. It takes less than an hour. Fresh Start Sober Living Maine is a residential program for adults on their journey from addiction to sobriety. There are currently 14 houses in Bangor (18 beds for women, 94 for men) and there is always a need for more. If you would like to contribute to Fresh Start Boxes, bring your items to Redeemer Lutheran Church and they will be taken to St. Patrick’s for packing.
